ABSTRACT

While the emergence of COVID-19 [1] has put major cloud service providers around the world to the test, the pandemic has also provided a strong impetus for the adoption and deployment of cloud computing: the transition to a remote workforce, entertainment, e-commerce, and especially remote education have affected the cloud industry and how providers are responding to the sudden and significant increase in demand for cloud solutions and services. Obviously, while highlighting the robustness of the public cloud, the pandemic-induced situation also highlights several important research challenges that need to be addressed. This paper presents a multi-source based analysis for the identification of cloud computing research challenges as part of the road mapping methodology followed in the HUB4CLOUD project. The analysis consists of an in-depth study of several sources including analysis of the international context, analysis of academic venues, interviews with relevant stakeholders and existing funded projects. The paper also provides an overview of the main research topics identified and proposes next steps for the utilization of these finding in the development of a Cloud Computing research roadmap. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

This paper proposes the Apache Spark application execution on a local machine using covid dataset with the standalone cluster environment using default scheduling mode. Cloud computing has been widely used in various fields of organization due to its flexibility and scalability. Efficient job scheduling technique can apply in the cloud to increases the profit of Cloud Service Provider and also reduces various optimization technique was recently applied to increases the performance of cloud computing. Experimental setup of apache spark done on a local machine in a standalone cluster environment using FIFO default scheduling mode. Existing techniques have limitations of local optimal trap, lower convergence and over fitting in prediction. This research applies First In First Out (FIFO) technique to increases the efficiency of cloud, reduce the cost, easy to configure with simplest standalone cluster manager. In this proposed framework, the first phase configure the local machine with apache spark second phase launch master node and worker node and the final phase launch the history server and run the application. The FIFO technique has a cost value of 2.5 $ based on the results recorded with two parameters execution time and resources utilized (CPU cores and memory). © 2022 IEEE

ABSTRACT

The use of unified communication;video conferencing, audio conferencing, and instant messaging has skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, security and privacy considerations have often been neglected. This article provides a comprehensive survey of security and privacy in Unified Communication (UC). We systematically analyze security and privacy threats and mitigations in a generic UC scenario. Based on this, we analyze security and privacy features of the major UC market leaders, and we draw conclusions on the overall UC landscape. While confidentiality in communication channels is generally well protected through encryption, other privacy properties are mostly lacking on UC platforms. [ FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT

Purpose - In recent times, the international trade environment has been changing rapidly, centering on the online market. In the post-COVID-19 era, small and medium-sized trading companies are facing the problem of not being properly provided with overseas market research, market trend analysis, and trade-related information. Cloud-based digital trade is being sought as an alternative to solve these problems;however, there is a lack of research on the intention to switch to digital trade among small and medium-sized trading companies. Therefore, this study empirically analyzes the intention to switch to digital trade based on the migration theory, and through this, attempts to identify each factor that affects the intention to switch to digital trade. Design/methodology - In this study, in order to identify factors influencing intention to switch to digital trade and innovation resistance of small and medium-sized trading companies, through previous research on migration theory and the PPM (Push, Pull, Mooring) model, each variable was selected for the purpose of the study. Based on this, a research model was established for the factors affecting switching to digital trade of small and medium-sized trading companies and empirically analyzed. In addition, considering the differences in the innovation propensity and maturity of information infrastructure of trading companies as the recipients of innovation, this study analyzes the moderating effect of the mooring effect and seeks ways to establish specific strategies according to the degree. Findings - As a result of empirical analysis, the pull effect was found to have the greatest influence on intention to switch to digital trade. However, the pull factor was found to have an effect on user resistance, and it was confirmed that it was a factor simultaneously inducing positive and negative consumption behaviors among users. In addition, it was found that the higher the company's innovation propensity, the higher the pull effect's influence on the intention to switch, and analysis showed that the push effect had no influence. In addition, companies with high information infrastructure maturity were expected to have a relatively high level of intention to switch compared to companies with low information infrastructure maturity, and the difference between the two groups was found not to be statistically significant. Originality/value - This study is a timely study in that it demonstrated the effect on the switching to cloud-based digital trade for small and medium-sized trading companies and that the cloud system related to digital trade is in full swing. There are academic implications in that it revealed that the pull effect is an important factor in the intention to switch to cloud service. Practical implications were presented in that small and medium-sized trading companies suggested ways to increase the value of the cloud system for switching to digital trade and a way to increase the switching ratio by minimizing the mooring effect. In addition, the study argues that active institutional support from the government is needed to activate cloud service.

ABSTRACT

Since December 2019 an unbroken pandemic due to the Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe respiratory disease corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), leading in millions of deaths across worldwide. On 30 January 2020 WHO (World Health Organization) proclaimed COVID 19 a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC)” and a pandemic on 11 March 2020. According to WHO, COVID-19 has little or no specific vaccines or antiviral treatments till now, so, the first task is to identify infected people and isolate them to protect against cross-infection. This paper proposes a new cloud-based "pandemic as a service" framework - for early detection of any pandemic disease (such as COVID-19) through smart phone sensors on individual smart phones from anywhere in the world, i.e., any smart phone user can do their preliminary home pandemic test to protect against cross-infection. The government may therefore take the measures as a mandatory test for all smart phone users with the requisite sensors, not only helping to identify the disease early, but also monitoring the users' current location and taking the protective action. © 2021 University of Bahrain. ABSTRACT

At present, the world economy is in recession, especially under the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, China's economy has also been greatly impacted. In this context, the disposable personal income of residents has also declined to varying degrees. More and more people choose economical life. If they can buy a used car in good condition at a good price, they are less likely to buy a brand new one. Under such a consumption concept, China's demand for second-hand cars is increasing. However, although China's second-hand car industry has developed for more than 30 years and the market scale has gradually expanded, there are still many problems behind the prosperity of the second-hand car market. These problems have existed for a long time, leading to a lot of disputes, unhappiness, disappointment, and even threats to the lives of consumers. These long-term problems also affect the virtuous circle of the second-hand car market, and hinder the healthy development of China's economy to a certain extent. In the past, research work mainly focused on the role of new policies, relevant laws and vehicle management and traffic management functions, this paper introduces the blockchain technology, which has the advantages of non tampering, transparency and traceability. This paper attempts to use blockchain technology as an auxiliary means to solve the long-standing problems in the used car market. This paper proposes a framework of used car trading based on blockchain in cloud service environment, and explains the working principle of the framework. Finally, the future research work is prospected. © 2021 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The global cloud market has recently increased dramatically due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In such situation, people are looking for flexibility to work from home without going to the office physically and hence many organizations have started to look for a cloud-based solution. Clearly, Cloud not only offers flexibility, but also provides scalability and availability to an organization especially for startups and SMEs which have not established a firm and stable architecture yet. Hence, this paper aims to provide a better understanding on the model, features, and services to select the most suitable cloud platform based on the objectives or requirements of an organization. Finally, potential challenges of cloud development are also described to assist organizations in deploying cloud as a service in order to make a wise decision beforehand as it would be a long-run processes. © 2021 IEEE.
